Significant project pipeline
State driven offshore wind targets have reached 40 GW on the East Coast alone, representing a capital investment volume of ~USD 120 Billion (exceeding 1 Trillion kroner).
20 East Coast commercial scale offshore wind projects have secured power offtake agreements amounting to ~ 15 GW. With an additional ~ 5GW of offtake agreements under negotiation in VA and NC, the market offers about 20 GW of active projects in procurement phase for components and services.
The historic NY Bight lease area auction amounting to USD 4.4 billion, illustrates developer commitment. The 6 new lease areas provide for ~10 additional GW of offshore wind.
From 2025 onwards, a yearly installation rate of about 4 GW can be expected for the East Coast, with additional volume building at the West Coast and in the Gulf towards the end of the decade.
With nearly 4 GW of active offshore wind projects, and the construction of a monopile facility, a wind superport and further infrastructure investments, New Jersey is positioning as a leader in the offshore wind industry. The 2022 IPF conference location in Atlantic City offers registrants a wide array of networking opportunities to access the supply chain and tap into investments being made in local communities.
