The Typhonix Low Shear Polymer Injection Valve is a valve technology developed to reduce the mechanical degradation of polymers during injection in polymer flood for EOR operations. The compact and flexible injection/choke valve is equipped with flow channels designed to throttle the polymer flow more gently, thereby minimizing the amount of mechanical degradation.
The low shear valve keeps the strain rate under the critical value, meaning that the polymer chains are not broken. The Low Shear Polymer Valve can reduce the polymer consumption by 1/3 for a given flooding operation, and can be used to inject polymer solutions with significantly higher viscosity to increase the oil recovery from a given reservoir.
