AKSO offers designs of floaters like semi-submersible units, FPSO, shallow draft buoy, SPAR and TLP. AKSO has extensive experience in floater design dating back to the Aker H-3 in 1973. Floaters in arctic waters enables development of fields where the water depth is too deep for fixed structures.
AKSO has experience from floater design for arctic conditions from screening of floaters, concept studies, FEED design (Shtokman FPU), the Aker Solution Arctic Drillship and the on-going Johan Castberg project. The experience from designing arctic floaters includes competence on selection of hull design, hull structural design for local ice loads and floater responses in different ice conditions. In addition several solutions of disconnection of the mooring and riser systems have been developed.
