Value proposition

The SWACH Wind (Small Waterplane Area Cylindrical Hull) design is a cylindrical floating foundation for offshore wind turbines. The solution is scalable up to the largest wind turbines and offers excellent motion characteristics in harsh conditions with a lifetime that can be designed for 50 years’ operation. The design consists of a simple construction with identical blocks, i.e. the fabrication can be spread to several sites. It has a shallow draft for quayside installation of tower and turbine. Fabrication in concrete is being evaluated as an alternative to steel. The design has been model tested at TCOMS in Singapore and numerical models are being calibrated towards model test results. Hybrid model tests are planned for in 2023 and 2024.
